The vineyards of Rosso Piceno are south of those of Rosso Conero, between Macerata and Ascoli Piceno. The vineyards run lateral to the coast. This red Italian wine is made from Sangiovese and Montepulciano, to which Trebbiano or Passerina grapes may be added.

Label Rosso Conero DOC

The colour is ruby and the modest bouquet is reminiscent of black fruit. The taste is mellow, remarkably fulsome, and dry. The Supérieure version from

the south of the area, contains slightly higher alcohol and is more full- bodied. Drink this Italian wine at 14-16°C (57.2-60.8°F) for young wines and 16-17°C (60.8-62.6°F) for older ones. Excellent everyday vini da tavola wines are also produced in The Marche. One of the best of the houses is Colonnara in Cupramontana, who make a little gem of a wine every time.
