Biferno Bianco Molise

The only wine from these parts to have established a name is the Biferno Rosso. This is made from Montepulciano, Trebbiano, and Aglianico grapes around Campobasso. The colour is ruby red towards granite red with age. There is a subtle and pleasing nose reminiscent of blackberry and blackcurrant, while the slightly tannic taste is muted and dry. The Riservas are more full-bodied and mature (not less than three years), and clearly contain more alcohol (minimum 13%). Drink this Italian wine at 14-16°C (57.2-60.8°F) but 16-17°C (60.8-62.6°F) for Riservas Italian wine.
