CARIGNANO DEL SULCIS DOC ITALIAN WINE

The Carignano grape was introduced by the Spanish. Today the grape is almost restricted to the area around Cagliari. The Rosato is a dry, fresh, and mellow and there is a Frizzante version. Drink this Rosato Italian wine at 10-12°C (50-53.6°F). The Rosso is ruby red, without any pronounced nose but it is deliciously dry and juicy with a mellow taste. Choose a Riserva (minimum 12.5% alcohol and at least three years old). Drink this Riserva Italian wine at 16-18°C (60.8- 64.4°F).

 

VERNACCIA DI ORISTANO DOC ITALIAN WINE

This Vernaccia is golden yellow with an intense aromatic bouquet of almond and white blossom with a warm (minimum 15% alcohol), fulsome, sultry, and seductive taste with a hint of bitter almond. The Superiore and Riserva are fuller, slightly stronger in alcohol (15.5%) and have longer to mature (three and five years). There are also sweet Liquoroso Dolce and dry Liquoroso Secco versions Italian wines. Both are made with must distilled with wine alcohol.

The Dolce contains at least 16.5% alcohol and the Secco 18%. Drink these Italian wines at 10-12°C (50-53.6°F) for the Secco and 8-12°C (46.4-53.6°F) for a Dolce according to taste.

 

ARBOREA DOC ITALIAN WINE

Drink these Italian wines at 10-12°C (50-53.6°F) for the Secco and 8-10°C for the Abboccato. There is also a delicious Trebbiano Frizzante Naturale that is available as either Secco or Abboccato. The Sangiovese Rosato is a wonderful cherry red and it has an inviting yet modest bouquet while its dry taste is juicy and fresh. Drinking temperature for this Italian wine is 10-12°C (50-53.6°F). The Sangiovese Rosso is an amenable dry wine that is mellow, rounded, and fresh tasting. Drink this Italian wine at 14-16°C (57.2-60.8°F).

 

ALGHERO DOC ITALIAN WINE

Countless different wines are made in the north west of Sardinia. The Frizzante Bianco Secco, Spumante Bianco Secco, Torbato Spumante Secco, Chardonnay Spumante Secco, and Vermentino Frizzante are outstanding aperitif Italian wines but they are also great with sea food. Drink these Italian wines at 8-10°C (46.4-50°F). The still Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Torbato are ideal with seafood and also with white meat. Drink these Italian wines at 10-12°C (50-53.6°F).

The light-bodied nature of the Rosato makes it a wine for lunch-time. The Rosso Novello, Rosso, and Sangiovese are amenable red wines. Drink this Rosato Italian wine at 12-14°C (53.6-57.2°F).
