Now Argentinian wines such as Torrontes and Cafayate Cabernet Sauvignon from the Etchart Bodega have become known along with a number of red wines from Norton such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, and Malbec and Pinca Flinchman's tasty Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and their superb Aberdeen Angus Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Nieto y Senetiner is less well-known in Europe but is certainly one of the Argentine's best houses with the outstanding Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Barbera, Sauvignon Blanc, and Torrontés. Tupungato Valley is also becoming known for its whites and Barbera reds.
SAUVIGNON BLANC ARGENTINA WINE
Argentina's Sauvignon Blanc (except the cheaper versions) have a pleasing aroma of citrus fruits, peach, apricot, kiwi, and grapefruit with slight vegetative undertones. It is fresh and quite dry, making it a perfect aperitif served at 48- 50°F (9- 10°C).
TORRONTES ARGENTINA WINE
Torrontes is Argentina's white wine speciality. The better ones are greenish-yellow with hints of gold. The bouquet is never truly exuberant, tending towards subtle floral aromas and a hint of exotic fruit. The taste is fresh but never sharply so and is well balanced and harmonious. Drink thia Argentinian wine at 46- 50°F (8- 10°C).
CHARDONNAY ARGENTINA WINE
Argentine Chardonnay is often pale golden with a green tinge. The bouquet is seductive and reminiscent of ripe apples and hot creamery butter with a hint of wood and vanilla. The texture is generally full and rounded, complex and broad. Drinking temperature is 50- 53°F (10- 12°C).
The finest Argentine Chardonnays such as Trapiche Pond de Cave retain their elegance despite a luxuriant and heady creaminess. The bouquet is of ripe apple, honey, butter, and spices such as cinnamon. Drinking temperature is 53.6-57.2°F (12-14°C).
BARBERA ARGENTINA WINE
This is a deeply coloured wine with wonderful aromas of young fruit such as cherries and raspberries. The taste if velvet smooth, harmonious, and elegant. This wine seduces one easily with its combination of fresh acidity and relative high alcohol content. Drinking temperature is 55.4-57.2°F (13- 14°C).
