This is a classic, totally Burgundian Burgundy with a magnificent, very intense, and clear ruby-red colouring. It is a very pleasing, full-bodied but soft wine with a powerful yet elegant texture. The taste lingers on the palate for some time.

This is one of the pearls of Burgundy. This French wine is a very pure ruby colour. When young it develops a nose of violets and cherry pips but after several years ageing in the bottle the bouquet becomes extremely rich and complex: humus, shrubs, autumn leaves, moss, many animal scents such as leather or even large game.

These powerful aromas are accompanied in the more mature wine with an amazingly soft and rounded texture that is velvety, fresh, and elegant. The flavour lingers on the palate. The finish is of cherry pips once more together with exotic wood.

Great French wine is produced in this tiny village. Although almost exclusively red wine is made, the extremely rare Clos Blanc de Vougeot is well worth mentioning. The Premier Cru Vougeot is an elegant, fruity wine with a strong note of blackcurrant and occasional hint of violet and liquorice.
