MOSCATO DI TRANI DOC ITALIAN WINE
This sultry and velvet smooth Moscato is probably a relic of the ancient Greeks. The very aromatic Moscato (minimum 14.5% alcohol) and the Moscato Liquoroso (minimum 18% alcohol) are delicious after a meal. Drinking temperature is 6-8°C (42.8-46.4°F).
ALEATICO DI PUGLIA DOC ITALIAN WINE
This is a fairly old- fashioned type of sweet red Italian wine made from Aleatico, often supplemented with Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, and Primitivo. This dark red sweet Italian wine is made by allowing part of the harvested grapes to dry out. The bouquet is big and very aromatic and the taste is warm (minimum 15% alcohol), characteristic for the wine and velvet smooth. The degree of the sweetness is quite acceptable. The Liquoroso is much fuller in body, sweeter, and warmer (18.5% alcohol). The best wine gets an additional three years ageing before sale (Riserva). Drinking temperature for this red Italian wine is 8-14°C (46.4-57.2°F) and 6-16°C (42.8-60.8°F) according to preference for the Liquoroso Italian wine.
LOCOROTONDO DOC ITALIAN WINE
This Italian wine area is located between Bari and Brindisi, in the southern part of Puglia. Very acceptable white Italian wines are made here using Verdeca and Bianco d’Alessano, usually supplemented with Fiano, Bombino, and Malvasia. Locorotondo is a very pleasant, fresh and elegant dry white wine. A quite reasonable Locorotondo Spumante is also produced. Drinking temperature for this white Italian wine is 8-10°C (46.4-50°F).
MARTINA FRANCA DOC ITALIAN WINE
North of Taranto a white Italian wine that is similar to Locorotondo is made. This Martina Franca is pale golden coloured with a hint of green. It is dry, fresh, and elegant. Just like the Locorotondo, a reasonable Spumante versions of this Italian wine is also made. Drinking temperature for this white Italian wine is 8-10°C (46.4-50°F).
